I am constantly amazed by the Clinton campaign’s ability to play the media. I don’t mean “I can’t believe it! What fools!” I think the media is mostly a bunch of harbor seals eager for the next beach ball to bat around, so I believe it. I’m mostly impressed by the Clinton campaign’s ability to keep those balls in the air.
Building on the infamous NH crying episode, the failed New Haven sequel, and “The Snub,” the campaign has unleashed two more “woe-is-me” stunts in the last few days that have garnered them an amazing amount of sympathy and free press.
Which they apparently need?
Or think they need?!
Or want us to think they need?!!
Anyway:
—On Not-As-Super-As-Tuesday Wednesday, Clinton announced she lent her campaign $5-million “just to stay competitive.” Then “amazingly” raised $8 million in 48 hours after all the free press coverage of her dire straits and financial sacrifice.
—Today, the Clinton campaign was “outraged” after MSNBC reporter, David Shuster, asked if the Clinton campaign is “pimping” Chelsea having her call people for money and support. The “outrage” over such a “sexist” word (and subsequent free media coverage) is a nice opportunity to remind everyone that Hillary is a woman running for President and “the man” is always trying to keep women down - and, of course, that the media just loves to pick on poor ol’ Hillary. Who needs your money!
P.S. I need to stop following this campaign so closely. I’m starting to feel emotionally involved in the political sparring, which given my extreme distance from the actual events and people involved, is arguably insane.
